On Wednesday, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and the owner of Twitter, announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence company called xAI. According to CNBC, the purpose of this company is to understand the true nature of the universe. More details about the company will be provided by Musk and his team on Friday during a live chat on Twitter Spaces.
As mentioned on the company’s website, xAI’s team members come from prestigious organizations, including DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, and Tesla. These experts have contributed to remarkable projects such as DeepMind’s AlphaCode and the development of chatbots GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 at OpenAI.
In April, Financial Times had previously reported about this startup, and during the same month, Musk revealed details about his plans for a new artificial intelligence tool called “TruthGPT” in an interview recorded on Fox News Channel. In the interview, he expressed his concern that existing AI companies prioritize systems that are “politically correct.”
The company was registered in Nevada in March, and Musk had previously changed his name on Twitter to “X Corp” in some financial documents. However, on the xAI website, the company announced that it has separated from X Corp and will work closely with X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies to advance its mission.
